He waited patiently.
She emerged shimmering, head-to-toe.
He looked like the handsome prince.
She was his princess.
Striking couple, dressed and ready for the ball.
Memories to last a lifetime.

30 Words :: Cousin It

This is what happens on a
blustery, Graupel-laden day
in Wisconsin
in April
on the ten paces it took
from the door to the car.
Cousin It came to visit! ;-)

30 Words :: Victory

...Words have power…
To build up… destroy…fill up... depress… encourage... bully… uplift.
What we focus on, is what we become.
What would your 'I Am' statement be?
Choose wisely.

   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next week I will be hosting my largest fundraiser of the year for the Dance Education Center. Each year I bring my Pop-a-Dot Jewelry collection for sale to help raise funds for their National Honor Society for Dance Arts scholarship program. This year I added something new.
I believe that the words that you surround yourself with, the ones you speak, write and say, are very powerful. They shape your reality and become a sort of self-fulfilling prophesy. But one that YOU have the power to change. I created these necklaces for my daughter's 13th birthday party last year as a party favor. Who better than 13 year old girls to wear messages of life-affirming positivity?
So this year, I have added the Victory Medals to the fundraiser for the dancers. The advanced dancers came up with the words that I used. I have hand-stamped these dozen or so words on metal tags like those above in four different metals and three different fonts. There will also be charms (like stars, hearts, keys and dancers) as well as birthstones to add to each necklace to make them completely unique to the wearer. Because I like variety and celebrate individuality.
But there needed to be something...more.
For every necklace purchased (through this sale April 20-26)
or through my website www.tesoritrovati.com
I will GIVE ONE to a woman in the Family Crisis Center shelter.
Because who better than a woman who has hit a low point, had words used against her for ill, to receive the blessing of a necklace that she can call her own and wear with pride to help shape her new reality?
VICTORY MEDAL :: BUY ONE-GIVE ONE
will be my ongoing gift to the Family Crisis Center.
Help me spread the message of hope to those that need it most and consider sharing this post.
Card that will be included with the donations to the Family Crisis Center
30 Words :: He is Risen, Indeed!
A tradition dating back
32+ years,
Living Stations
tell the
Passion of Christ
dramatically, reverently, prayerfully.
From Veronica wiping His face,
to His triumph over death.
He is Risen, Indeed!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last week Thursday, my daughter (playing Veronica) was part of the 8th grade presentation of the Living Stations of the Cross. This tradition has been going on since I was in the 8th grade more than 32 years ago (and likely for some time before that!). I am pretty sure that I was one of the weeping women on the path. I can remember wearing a blue shawl. They did such a great job proclaiming the story through their actions.

Although they could have raised the basketball hoop above the stage for the dramatic ending. ;-)

We had a very blessed Easter celebration weekend that culminated in the Hintz Family Easter graze-a-thon at my house. And then....the Flu hit, with a capitol F. It seems that my 1 1/2 year old grand-nephew who came with his grandparents (while his parents were home sick with the flu) was a little bug bomb that took out a total of 13+ people at two different family parties that day. I have remained a lucky one, but spent the better part of this week nursing my family back to some semblance of living. Blergh.
Wishing you the Blessings of the Easter Season!

30 Words :: Choose Your Own Adventure

The World
is not in your books + maps
but in the joy of
seeking new horizons,
Don't box yourself in.
Choose your own adventure
and immerse yourself in it.

These two images are part of my new Artfully Worded hand-lettered illustrated word art. I have been bitten by the hand-lettering bug, love quotes and words, and have found that I really enjoy illustrating them with suitable images. These two are on their way to a local fundraiser for the Rotary International foreign exchange program called "6x6 Travel the World." Local as well as far-flung artists have donated their art on 6x6 canvases, unsigned on the front, that will be displayed and sold for $25 each at an upcoming art event.

I would love to create one just for you!
